GRAND MASTER HUNTER- SALTYDOG’S PICTURE PERFECT (REMI)

LUNA’S NEW SENIOR HUNTER TITLE

It was a great summer for all the working field dogs from Saltydog Kennel’s. Remi- Saltydog’s Picture Perfect attained her Grand Master Hunter title in August of 2020 at the very young age of 3 years and 11 months. Remi is owned and trained by Aaron and Jennifer Hunt. We couldn’t be more proud of their teamwork! Luna- Saltydog Yelorose Harvest Moon reached the milestone of CKC Senior Hunter, also in August. We are hopeful Alex and Evelyn Hoyt of Yellowrose Kennel’s take Luna to Master Hunter in 2021. Cyanne- Saltydog’s Quiver & Arrow and Wigeon- Saltydog’s Raging Fire both attained the beginner levels of Working Certificate, also in August of 2020. Both girls had litters of puppies leave for new homes just 3 weeks before the tests were run. They obviously love the game. Congratulations to all our Saltydog’s of 2020!!

DUKIE WITH 3 IN A ROW FOR HIS JUNIOR HUNTER

On Sunday, July 22, 2012, on the marshes of Tantramar, Dukie made it 3 in a row to add the title of Junior Hunter to his resume. It was a great event hosted by our friends of the Moncton Retriever Club. We’ll have a look at the upcoming WCI test in September and then focus on Senior Hunter in 2013.
We just can’t say no to this loveable goof!

On Sunday, July 10th, 2016 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Goose acquires his 1st Field Title. Hopefully, this WC ribbon will only be the beginning of a long and decorated field career. He is such a smart boy who learns quickly and aims to please. We are going to have fun playing the game with this one!!!!

Gracie will begin her Junior Hunter program in the Spring of 2013. Watch out Dukie, Grace is hot on your heels!

5 SRAIGHT PASSES IN SENIOR HUNTER

Dukie-
On Saturday, August 9th, 2014 Dukie ran all series clean and passed his 4th straight Senior Hunter test in Brooklyn, NS. Eastern Flyway’s Hunting Retriever Club were hosting the Hunt Test events and a great time was had by all. Duke ran again on Sunday and added pass #5 after receiving his title on Saturday. Although, not a hard charging dog, Dukie is steady, an excellent marker and real team player. If the desire is there, a Master Hunter Title could be in his future!
On Saturday July19th, 2014 Dukie passes his 3rd straight SH test. The Moncton Hunt Club was the host this time. We all battled the heat, but Dukie came through with another strong effort and requires just one more pass to gain that Senior Hunter title.
On Sunday July 6th, 2014 Duke passes his 2nd Senior Hunter test. The Sunpoke Hunt Club put on a nice event and challenged the dogs in every series. He is now half way to his title and hopefully he can get there in 4 straight! Way to go Dukie!!!!

DUKIE ADDS ANOTHER TITLE

Finishes the season off with another title at Eastern Flyway’s Working Certificate Test’s.
Duke added the final in the series of WC’s with a WCX victory. He made the land blind look tougher than it was, but did a great job on the land and water marks. Finished in style with a solid water blind and brought home the WCX title. I think a little R&R Duck Hunting is in order now!  Good Dog!

Lucy did a fine job with her 1st attempt at the Hunt Test game. In Moncton on the 13th of July, 2015, Lucy passed her 1st JH test. She is a joy to work with and should do very well in the field.

DUKE’S ROAD TO MASTER HUNTER

CH SALTYDOG’S ELEVENTH HOUR MH WCX –

Our boy Dukie, has just become Nova Scotia’s 2nd Duck Toller to attain the CKC Hunt Test title of Master Hunter! Next we’ll attempt to improve on that title with a GMH(Grand Master Hunter) title.

On Sunday, June 11th, 2017, Duke completed his 5th pass at Master in Riverview New Brunswick. A special thanks to the Moncton Retriever Club and Judges Walter and Barb Vessey for putting together a very tough, but fair hunt test.

Sunday, May 21, 2017, Dukie earns his 4th ribbon at Eastern Flyway Hunting Retriever Club’s Master Hunt Test. He ran a strong test and was among the top dog’s today. Very proud of our Little Red Dog!

Saturday, July 16th, 2016, Dukie hangs in there on a very hot and long water series. His water marks were not as strong as we would have hoped for, but he didn’t have to be handled on any of the land series. His water blind was strong at 114yds, fighting a cross wind and swimming past the location of the memory bird from the water marks. Team work got us through on our biggest test challenge to date. Once again, thanks to the Moncton Retriever Club for great weekend of dog work.

Sunday, September 13, 2015, Duke puts in a strong effort at the Eastern Flyway’s Hunting Retriever Club in Ardoise, Nova Scotia and gets his 2nd Master Hunt Test pass. It was a great weekend with all three Maritime provinces being represented. On Saturday, 2 of 8 running dogs passed and on Sunday, 3 of 8 dogs passed on what was another very challenging series of Master tests. Thanks to all who attended our club’s final HT’s of 2015!

Dukie passes his very 1st Master Hunter Test in Moncton on July 18, 2015. He is a great team player and will need every once of effort to compete at this level of hunt test. Good job Dukie!

On Saturday July 19th, 2014 Foxgrove’s Saltydog Sadie Lady earned her 1st hunt test title. Sadie made it look easy as she completed her 3rd straight Junior Hunter test. Thanks to the Moncton Hunt Club for putting on a great event even though all had to battle extreme heat. Way to go Sadie!!
In September Sadie wll run the WC test and if she is ready perhaps also give the WCI a try!
Next, Sadie will be working toward a SH title. She is also busy in the conformtion ring adding points toward her  show championship.

Two Championships at Dartmouth Kennel Club Show –
On Saturday, May 12th, 2012 Gracie earned her final point required for her (CH) in show #1 of the day. She continued on and was named Best In Breed for 3 straight shows.
On Sunday, May13th, 2012 Dukie also earned his (CH) in the 2nd show of the day. He was named Best In Breed in the final show and collected 6 points for the weekend. He needed every point to attain his Championship. A special thanks to our trusted friend and show handler Chris Graham for the wonderful preperation and commitment in the Show Ring.

Gracie wins again in Moncton!
On the weekend of November12th, Gracie competed in the Conformation ring at the Moncton Dog Show. Once again she was selected as Best In Breed for both days. Gracie now has 6 of the 10 points required for her (CH) Championship.

Sadie had an excellent weekend at the February 2018 Halifax Kennel Club dog Show. She went Best In Breed twice and collected 5 points towards her Championship Title. Way to Sadie!!

DUKIE EARNS WC IN FREDERICTON JULY, 2011

Saltydog’s Eleventh Hour, call name Dukie earned his Working Certificate Title o Sunday, July 10th at the Sunpoke WC Test in Fredericton. At just under 7.5 months of age, Duke performed the required land and water retrieves to claim his first field title. Way to go Duke!

On Sunday, June 19th, 2011, Chloe and Ocean entered the Moncton Hunting Retriever Club’s Junior Hunt test and both passed. This gives Chloe her title of JH and for Ocean it’s her first leg toward that same title. Congratulations Girls!

CH Saltydog’s Covered In Clover received her Conformation Championship at the Dartmouth Dog Show on Sunday, May 16th, 2010. She required only 2pts. to complete the title, but like a true champion, she was picked Best-Of-Breed again in consecutive shows, giving her a 4pt. win for the event.

CHLOE WINS AT MONCTON HUNT TEST

 

CHLOE PICKS UP WIN #2 TOWARD JH TITLE

Chloe received her second JH win in Moncton on July, Th. The weather was a factor on this July weekend. It topped 36C on Saturday afternoon, but Chloe finished her test with a couple of cool water retrieves which leaves her needing just one more win for her JH.

Chloe had a good start to her Junior Hunter program in Frederiction, New Brunswick on Sunday, July 4th, 2010. She narrowly missed a pass on Saturday, but rebounded nicely on Sunday’s water test to receive her first ribbon towards a CKC Jh title.

On September, 18th, 2010, Ocean captured her 1st Working Certificate. We couldn’t train for the 2 weeks prior to the competition due to being away on holidays. There was little rust on Ocean however, as she performed like a veteran and made all her retrieves with ease.

On Saturday, September 19th, 2009 Smokey competed in the CKC Working Certificate Intermediate test held at the Eastern Flyways Hunting Retriever Club. She passed with flying colours and can add the suffix “WCI” to the her name.
Also, not to be out done was Chloe, who at just under one year of age has aquired her very first hunting title.
Chloe competed in the Working Certificate test and also passed with extra style points. She is now known as Saltydog’s Covered In Clover WC.

2009 EASTERN FLYWAY HUNT TEST

 

“MASTER HUNTER TITLE FOR DEKE”

On Sunday, August 9, 2009 Deke became Saltydog Kennels and Nova Scotia’s first CKC titled NSDTR Master Hunter dog. He competed this past weekend at the Eastern Flyway Hunting Retriever Club in Brooklyn, NS. It took two days, but on Sunday we were able to put in a very solid effort (no handling required on any of the “marks”) to secure that required fifth leg  to give Deke the official registered name Redland’s Pegasus Decoy MH,WCX,WC(usa),CD.
Thanks to our home club and all the participants that made this weekend especially memorable!

Smokey and Deke continue their winning ways in July of 2009. On Saturday, July 4th, Smokey completed her Junior Hunter Title. Deke also had another pass on Saturday. He now has four passes and requires just one more to complete his Master Hunter Title. Thanks to the folks of the Sunpoke Retriever Club of New Brunswick for putting on a very successful event again this year.

DEKE AND SMOKEY PASS HUNT TESTS IN MONCTON JUNE 20-21, 2009

 

On June 20 &21, 2009, Smokey and Deke competed in New Brunswick at the Moncton Retriever Clubs annual Hunt Test. Deke completed the third leg toward the title of Master Hunter on Saturday. Smokey began her Junior Hunter title and had passes on both Saturday and Sunday. She now has 2 of 3 legs required to become a Junior Hunter. Congratulations to both and a big thank you to the Moncton Retriever Club for a great weekend of competition!

 

CHLOE WINS BEST-OF-BREED AT LUNENBURG KENNEL CLUB SHOW ON SATURDAY, JUNE 6th, 2009

 

CHLOE HAVING FUN

Chloe wins again! On Saturday, June 6th, 2009 Saltydog’s Covered In Clover won Best-Of-Breed at the Lunenburg Kennel Club Show. She placed ahead of four other Tollers from a local kennel and also one Ontario bred dog. Congratulations Chloe!

On Sunday, May 10th, 2009 Chloe wins Best-of-Breed at the Dartmouth Kennel Clubs spring show held at Cole Harbour Place in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She is just 7 months of age, but already has demonstrated the same elegance as her mom Slipper’s. We will keep you updated as “Chloe” continues with Conformation Showing.

 

DEKE RECEIVES A CD TITLE

 

REDLAND’S PEGASUS DECOY SH WCX WC(USA), CD

 

Deke completed his CD (Companion Dog) Title in CKC Obedience as of March 28th, 2009 in Truro, N.S. He went 3 for 3 in trials entered and also received High-In-Class in 2 out of 3 events. Working in the obedience ring during the winter months was a great way for us to boost our communication skills for the up coming Hunt Test season.

On Saturday, September20th, 2008 Saltydog’s Blazin Trail, call name “Smokey” earned her very first field title. She now will be officially referred to as Saltydog’s Blazin Trail WC, working certificate. Smokey performed the required land and water retrieves with style and enthusiasm. Upon completion of the event, we were informed that Smokey could very well now be the youngest Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever to receive the “Working Certificate” title. To qualify to run the test, a retriever must be a minimum of 6 months of age. Smokey completed the event at age 6 months and 4 days. Way to go SMOKEY!!

REDLAND’S PEGASUS DECOY SH WCX WC(USA), CD

 

 

On May 17, 2008 Redland’s Pegasus Decoy SH WCX WC(usa),CD competed for the first time in the Maritimes in a Master Hunt Test. This CKC Hunt Test was held at Milford, N.S and was sponsored by Eastern Flyway Hunting Retriever Club. Deke passed on Saturday and received the first of five legs required to achieve the title of Master Hunter!
On June 28, 2008 at the Sunpoke Retriever Hunt Tests in New Brunswick, “Deke” gained the 2nd leg for his Master Hunter Title. Thanks to the Sunpoke Hunting Retriever Club for all your great hospitality.
